Book of Remembrance, Yahrzeit Wall Plaques, and Tree of Life

During the High Holy Days we observe Yizkor, a memorial service when we publicly honor the deceased and come together as a community. Traditionally, individuals have honored their loved ones by giving tzedakah in their memory. This act of tzedakah both honors the deceased and allows us to remember the ways in which their lives inform, inspire, and enrich our hearts today.  One meaningful way to honor your loved ones is by memorializing them in our Book of Remembrance.

Book of Remembrance: From Generation to Generation
Four times a year, during Yizkor (Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot), we take time to formally honor our ancestors and loved ones who have passed. This act of remembrance, particularly at the High Holy Days, is our promise to those who have died that we will forever remember them. It is also an example to future generations of what it means to remember, and of the critical nature of remembrance in linking one generation to the next.

Our Book of Remembrance is presented in an electronic format, and will be housed here on our website for you to access whenever you’d like.

Yahrzeit Plaques

Our Yahrzeit Wall, located on the back wall of our sanctuary, provides a permanent way to honor your loved one’s memory, wherever their final resting place may be. The plaque on the wall is lit during the week of your loved one’s yahrzeit (anniversary of their death), as well as during the four Yizkor services observed throughout the year. See more information about purchasing a Yahrzeit plaque.

Tree of Life

Help grow our beautiful Tree of Life, located on the temple's reception area wall, with your purchase of a leaf, acorn or rock. The tree is a perfect way for you to share and remember meaningful moments such as births, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, bar/bat mitzvah, honors, memories of loved ones, and more. You might even consider chipping in with others to acknowledge a shared moment. See more information about our Tree of Life.

To remember is to highlight everything the deceased have taught us, so that their lives continue to live in own hearts.
