introtojudaism

As a highly personal matter, conversion takes place through a combination of education, ritual, community involvement, and individual counseling. An appearance before a bet din (panel of rabbis or cantors) and an immersion in a mikvah (ritual bath) is required.

Our conversion process is unique and we welcome students who are interested in learning more about Judaism, but who may not be ready to declare their intention for conversion. That is why we also call this class our Introduction to Judaism series. We strive to create a cohesive and supportive community of learners, and therefore we offer various points of entry throughout the year while encouraging all of our students to remain in each series for the duration of that topic.

Click here to download a pdf on the conversion process at Temple Beth Shalom, which includes class locations and times, price, a description of the course content, the suggested reading list, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Those who seek conversion to Judaism are encouraged to contact Rabbi Amy Cohen at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
