Temple Beth Shalom has many ways for you to gather with others and participate in all kinds of activities. Browse our groups and find the communities and areas that sound fun for you. Join as many or as few as you like. What activities and groups speak to you? Let us know and we can help you get involved!

Community

Interfaith Families
Recognizing that many families have some component of interfaith, we welcome mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, young adults, older adults, singles, couples, and people of all denominations and belief systems to our community.

Sisterhood
Join a diverse group of women that come together for friendship and study to further the goals of our synagogue. Sisterhood creates an atmosphere from members to fulfill their potential and reach into the community for tikkun olam – the repair of the world.

Brotherhood
Join a group of men that are building personal, professional, and spiritual relationships with one another and their community. Coming together to support each other and engage with fellow temple members. 

Youth Engagement
Starting with our youngest school-aged kids and continuing through high school graduation, we provide complementary social activities to students' religious education.

Next Generation (20s-30s)
Young adults explore what Judaism means to them, and how it can inspire and impower them throughout their lives and careers. This group also allows for opportunities for members to connect with the greater Jewish community. 

Act 2 (Age 55+)
Act 2 is a social group open to all of our members who are 55 or older.

Shalom Gathers
Do what you love, meet other temple members who love it, and let the gathering begin! Don’t see a gathering that interests you? Start one of your own!

Learning

Lifelong Learning
Learning is a central part of life for both adults and children. Our learning community is an integral part of many members' lives in their lifelong pursuit of Jewish literacy and personal growth.

Young Families: Jewish Spark
Jewish Spark for Families is geared toward families with children ages 0-8 years old, with a focus on the unique needs and schedules of families.

Service

Caring Community
Come support one another through the good times and help in times of sadness. Join the efforts to left fallen spirits, fed the soul, and welcome the next generation. Our goal is for everyone to participate in an act of lovingkindness. 

Social Action Groups:

Austin Jews and Partners for Refugees
Austin Jews and Partners for Refugees is a grassroots group who gather to support and advocate for refugees. Members help in many ways, from being tutors at English learning programs for adults and children, to organizing donation drives and hosting advocacy events.

Knitzvah Project
Is knitting and crocheting your passion? Join and be the change – as you knit or crochet items for families in need and members of our greater community who are homeless or displaced. 

Mobile Loaves & Fishes
Preparing and serving food to support the food truck that hits the streets 7 nights a week, 365 days a year to serve the homeless, delivering food, clothing, hygiene products and other life-sustaining items.

Meals on Wheels
Join in delivering meals to homebound elderly, disabled, and needy individuals. This is a wonderful way to give back to the greater Austin community and see the everlasting impact you can make!

Social Advocacy

Social Justice & Advocacy
We make a collective effort to bring our values to bear in the community at large. We engage on issues of local, national, and global concern. We participate in interfaith coalitions and activities. We speak out on behalf of the vulnerable and we seek justice for all.

Music

Choirs and Ensembles
Our choirs and musical ensembles, from the Kol Hakavod adult choir to Kids' Choir, add beauty and spirit to so many aspects of our life here at Temple Beth Shalom.
